INSTALLING BACKTRACK (Part1)

                            BACKTRACK  INSTALLATION

 

IN THIS POST WE WILL LEARN HOW TO INSTALL BACKTRACK 5R3 TO COMPUTER OR LAPTOP HARD DISK. SO THAT WE COULD USE IT AS A FULL BLOWN OPERATING SYSTEM. WE CAN DO ALL THE THINGS IN BACKTRACK THAT WE DO IN WINDOWS AND MAC AND THEY WORK IN SAME WAY AS IN ANY OTHER OPERATING SYSTEM.

WE CAN INSTALL WINDOWS EXECUTABLE PROGRAMS IN BACKTRACK AND THEY FUNCTION VERY WELL. SO NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT YOUR FAVOURITE WINDOWS APPS LIKE VLC, ADOBE READER,  WINRAR......!!! IN BACKTRACK WE HAVE AN PROGRAM CALLED "WINE" WHICH ALLOWS US TO INSTALL WINDOWS PROGRAMS. 

 

REQUIREMENTS :

 

1.  BACKTRACK 5R3 (OPERATING SYSTEM) image file i.e .ISO 32 or 64 bit depending on your processor. 

2.  A pen drive with minimum 4GB capacity

 

 

STEP 1 :

 

You can download Backtrack from the link below. Officially the download for Backtrack 5 has been stopped so below is the torrent link  where you can download it. So you need to have torrent client like U-TORRENT or BIT TORRENT to download it.

STEP 2 :

 

 The torrent client can be downloaded from the link below :

    a) u Torrent : download here 1.16 MB

    b) BitTorrent : downliad here 1.54 MB

 

 

STEP 3 :

 

You can install the backtrack to your hard-drive using either DVD or Bootable Pendrive. For installation using a bootable pen drive you need a pendrive with atleast 4 GB capacity. To make this pendrive bootable we have many softwares available like rufus, Bootsage tool, Microsoft USB/DVD tool, WinUSB Maker, ....and so on. For creating a linux bootable pendrive LILI USB Creator is my personal best. You can download it by clicking the link below.

Now we have all the pre requirements for making Backtrack 5R3 live OS. Follow the steps below.

 

1. Install and run LILI Live USB Creator.

 

2. Connect your 4GB capacity pendrive and click refresh button. (Blue button next to   "Choose a USB Key"). Now select your pendrive from the dropdown list. 

 

3. Next click on ISO/IMG icon and locate the backtrack image file that you downloaded. Now it will verify the version of your linux.

 

4. Now in options i.e Step 4. uncheck the 1st option "Hde created files in key" and check the 2nd box i.e "format the key in fat 32". (Please save your data from your pendrive to hard disk because once you format you will loose your data)

 

 

5. Now click on the yelow lightening icon  at to start the process. Wait for some time till the process is completed. It will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. 

 

 

Once the process is completed close the LILI Live USB creator and eject your pendrive. Your pendrive is now ready for installation. Enjoyyyy.
